Find & Make Story Day

Half Day · In person
MODULE 1 & MODULE 2

Whether you’re leading a grassroots project, working in comms for a cause, building a social enterprise, or simply carrying a story from your community that deserves to be seen, this session is for you. No prior experience needed, just a story worth telling.

In the course you will:

  • Use our Story Canvas tool to brainstorm and shape your story concept
  • Learn narrative frameworks for social impact storytelling
  • Explore ethics in impact storytelling: how to tell stories with, not about, your community
  • Film interviews on your smartphone or tablet: setup, framing, technique
  • Capture dynamic b-roll footage and record good quality audio in the field
  • Get an introduction to editing tools and platforms, so you know what’s ahead

What you’ll leave with:

A story idea developed on the Story Canvas, a library of footage (interviews, b-roll, audio) ready to edit, and a sense of the editing tools available to you. Your story idea and footage are yours to keep working with, along with a solid sense of the right tools for editing. From there, you can dive into editing on your own, or come along to Edit & Share Day, where we’ll help you turn it into a finished, shareable story.

Who it’s for:

No prior experience needed, just a story worth telling. Whether you’re leading a grassroots project, working in comms for a cause, building a social enterprise, or simply carrying a story from your community that deserves to be seen, this session is for you.

When & Where:

Find & Make Story Day runs in cities across Australia every few months. Click below to see upcoming dates, or register your interest and we’ll let you know when a workshop lands in your area.
